One street, our street #11 - Aggies for 2014

I did not feel it appropriate to sit and write a journal at the New Year's Eve party we attended last night, so you may wish to check it out, written this morning.

Just over a year ago, back on December 3rd, 2012 (see One street #1), I started a series of blips titled One street, our street. The idea is that you photograph any street, in my case our own street - over weeks or perhaps months, throughout the year.

I said back a year ago that maybe I would do it over several years, telling the story of our street in words and pictures. Well, it is still happening with this first blip for 2014!

So this is our street view #11, taken early summer on a strangely hot and overcast New Year's Day holiday. It shows a closeup on one of the agapanthus on the huge agapanthus bank in our street, evident on the right in my street blip #1.

Better detail in LARGE.

You may think there are not many houses in our street, and that is also correct. And yet, there are houses up and down the street.

In street blip #1 I also said..."there are many different types of trees in the street with the large plane trees dominating and gum trees in the background, and a border of agapanthus on the right hand side". This aggy bank is now densely packed and completely out of control.

If you forget to remove the finished flower heads, they quickly self-seed and can often become a menace, forming huge clumps. In fact, this South African native easily develops weed-like tendencies. However, it is a nice welcome home to pull into our street, bordered by a sea of blue flowers.
