If you can't be an athlete....
...be an athletic supporter.
No 1 had agreed to be part of a triathlon team to raise funds for their trip to Chogoria later this year. It seemed a great idea at the time - however after a sleepless night for me (all aches and pains again - drink medecine had obviously worn off) I picked her up from the remains of her party and deposited her and bike at the Commonwealth Pool.
They had entered 3 teams, and I was impressed. Some of them were here after only a few hours sleep. No 1 was cycling 3 laps of Arthur's Seat (big hill near Holyrood Palace). Her friend C was swimming, and as she is an excellent competitive swimmer, they were given race numbers with the elite athletes!
No 1 'racked' her bike - with her appointed number, but all the other bikes were super-lightweight, professional road bikes. They laughed at her purple mountain bike ! And even told her to leave at at the side as the weight of it would pull the bike rack over!
When C finished her swim, No 1 raced out to get her bike - but it had been moved! The stewards thought it was left there by mistake and shifted it !
The 3 teams did a great job. Although No 1 said it was torture ! She hadn't trained at all - she hadn't even looked at the route. Mind you, if she had - she would never have agreed to it in the first place!
'Leftover' party at our house tonight. Anyone who is still standing can drop in and eat/drink the remainder of the New Year goodies before we get back to 'old clothes and porridge' tomorrow.
It's a bit of a tradition now - we're never sure who will turn up. Tonight PJs and One-sies are the dress code!
