Light at last.

The fog had begun its stealthy advance just before 11pm as though to hide the change from one year to another. Hiding some mythical dance of the hairy trolls or the delicate trudge of fairies trampling out the old to allow the new to flourish. What I saw at 15 minutes after the singing of Auld Lang Syne as I wandered sleepily home from a quick visit to a neighbor that became hours long, was a vision of this light broken by both the tree and the mist into a lovely aura. Shafts of light reaching out to disrupt the darkness in a truly lovely fashion. So I scurried home and grabbed a camera to try to capture this moment. I used a few settings, but this one was the closest to what I saw.
