The art of sales

Middle boy (6 and very nearly 7) decided to set up shop yesterday in the living room. At first he tried selling ideas (albeit great ones) and then as he wasn't getting much custom extended his product range into pictures and various thing he found around the house.

I tried to explain that collecting things that happened not to be locked away and then selling them back to us was perhaps not entirely ethical but he got upset by that - I think perhaps because he was so excited at his brilliant money making scheme. In the end I bought a picture and some Indiana Jones snap cards he had made all by himself, and which were so unbearably cute that I forgot I was being fleeced.

Daddy must have also gone shopping as he had made £5 by the end of the day and had to close the shop early as we had run out of money. Then he woke up later this evening and tried to give the money back as he was upset that we had no money left and thought that we probably couldn't afford a new car now. I comforted him by explaining about banks and cash and coming up with a list of new products we can try tomorrow. He's planning on opening a second store at Nanny and Grandpa's. I think I made a little capitalist ;-)
