The Garden Gate
Between Christmas and New Year I paid a visit, in the manner of a dutiful son, to my Dad in his Leith home, where I was brought up.
I took the opportunity to photograph the old, presently redundant, front garden gate that now lies unused in the back garden. This gate is a real piece of family history as it was made by my late grandfather around about 1960. Pop passed away in 1970.
As can be seen from how the gate has survived all these years, he was a real master craftsman who probably never used a power tool in his life. I can just imagine what his opinions would be, along with those of his contemporaries, of the nail gun generation of joiners!
