VISITOR

Gazing out of my window at the welcome sunshine and not procrastinating at all, I saw a flock of Goldfinches, and another of Pied Wagtails and the Greater Spotted Woodpecker return to the trees across the road. I think they visit most days but I don't always see them. The previous juvenile red patch on the top of her head seems to have disappeared rather than shrinking to a smaller red bar, so I guess she's a female. She didn't mind me circling the base of the tree for a while snapping up at her, although the wagtails flew off to a safer distance. The poor trees are looking very scabby now with her frequent visits, but perhaps it's good for them?
