Costa del Barrow

Barrow in Furness is a former industrial town. Today it is most famous for building our nuclear submarines. If Trident is ever cancelled the effect on the town would be devastating. The big buildings to the right of the sail,in the town, is where they are built.

The picture is taken from Roa Island which is a hamlet to the south that gives access via a ferry in the summer to Piel Island. Roa Island is reached via a causeway that gives easy access for windsurfing when the tide is high like today. No need to lug the surfboard and sail over miles of sand. Just park up and step into the water. A brisk wind meant they hurtled over the water a a great lick with the occasional ducking.
