Pendle Hill
Could todays blip be any different from yesterday's??
Saw the forecast this morning was warnings of more gales and heavy wind Friday, but showers and lots of sunshine today. By 10.00am the skies were amazing just looking out of the window so I changed my well meaning plans of going to buy a new vacuum cleaner and put my walking boots on instead.
This is taken from above the village of Sabden looking away from the little village with its mill chimneys and up towards Pendle Hill....which you can climb on the paths you can see etched in the heather. I have done this many times, but today went a different route as off the footpaths was incredibly boggy and your feet disappeared quickly and without warning in deceptive tough grass that was just mud underneath! I took this shot having precariously climbed up a 5ft dry stone wall to stand on the top ( I didn't damage the wall at all, I'm quite a little mountain goat and very careful with that sort of thing) I really haven't done anything to the colours of this....I just waited for the sun to roll across the hill and hit its side and the fields below...you could see it moving quickly with the wind, and the same shot just 5 minutes before looks like a completely different season.
Ended up driving back through Clitheroe and called in on a friend who insisted we went to a pretty smart wine bar for lunch so I had to borrow some boots a size too big for me as mine were too mucky, but the views of the walk and the tempura king prawns for lunch made it a lovely and unexpected day.
Oh, and then I went and got the vacuum cleaner I wanted when it was dark and got it £100 cheaper as it was in the sale! Result.
