The techne of hat-making

Today's word is techne - 'An art, skill, or craft; a technique, principle, or method by which something is achieved or created. Also: a product of this, a work of art' (OED). In interpreting today's word, I decided to go for the craft angle and chose this Hungarian hat, since we were in Hungary in the quiet but beautiful medieval town of Sopron. I was tempted and tried one on, but the giggles from the boys persuaded me that this was not the sort of hat for wandering up and down the King's Road. Alas, I therefore left the shop empty-handed.
