It' a lot of fun in Nice!
We arrived in Nice last night so today was a day for exploring. The first thing that struck me was the light as the sunrise this morning was beautiful and we are fortunate enough to be staying in an apartment with great views in a fantastic location. Hubby visited the boulangerie next door this morning and returned with a baguettes, pain au chocolats etc so after we'd filled our tummies we set out to see what we could find.
The apartment is facing the Promenade du Paillon which, unknown to us before we arrived, used to be a bus station which took three years to demolish and renovate the 1.2km stretch allowing for views of the mountains and facades of the old town. It only opened on 26th October so we're very lucky as the park is lovely with a fab playground with a huge wooden whale which the kids took great delight in climbing.
We wondered down to the Christmas market which was buzzing and couldn't resist letting the kids (and Hubby!) have a ride in a Christmas tree bauble (they're in the purple one).
Our walk then took us down to the Promenade des Anglais which is on the sea front and stretches for miles (I'm looking forward to having a run here tomorrow!). Here we decided to go on a tour with the petit train de Nice which the kids were very excited about and we went on a tour through the old town and up to the castle hill. The views from here were great but as it's been very overcast today we plan to come back so I can get some good snaps!
