High Tide.

Happy New Year!

This morning M and I got ourselves down to the beach as soon as we could, in the hope of getting a New Year's Day surf. Despite an unusually high tide for the time of day, we did take out the boards - only to realise that the riptide to the north was incredibly strong... It was bringing both M and I off our feet! We caught just one wave each, then dumped the boards on the beach and had a swim instead. I braved a duck-dive under just one wave before succumbing to head-freeze and joining M on the sand. There's one of our cold wee faces on my 'folio :o)

After a very quick change, we drove over to the lifeboat station for a coffee, then headed out to Torry Battery to get a couple of photos of the waves breaking over the lighthouse wall. The waves weren't even that large, it was just a freakishly high tide. I managed not to get too damp before we retreated home for a bowl of roasted red pepper soup.

M laid the fire and I spent the rest of the day sleeping on the beanbag in front of the flames, then later sleeping on the sofa :o) I managed to wake myself up enough to make us some dinner, then Indiana Jones before bed. Today was a good start to 2014!
