Sunlight on the bole of a lonely Burr Elm…
… in a Conifer Wood.
An odd photograph. I made a special trip to the wood by Formartine's cafe on the Haddo estate in Aberdeenshire (junction of B999 and B9170), a lovely place to have a coffee/snack and a walk round the Loch through the conifer wood. There are one or two deciduous trees in the wood and especially loch-side. But the 'Burr Elm' is noted in the 'guide' to the walk. However, it is hidden deep among the conifers and I spent some time trying to find it. I think this is it, but in the dark of the Wood it was difficult to get a decent photograph, taking in the upper branches. This is where the human eye (even including the artificial lens after cataract removal in my right eye) is better designed than the camera's lens.
Still, for me at least, the end result has some interest, particularly from the strong beam of penetrating sunlight, though not worth hanging on the wall, of course!
