Travel Martin Guitar
This wee thing has been a friend for about eight years. I wanted to bring it home to Edinburgh for the festive holidays so's I could do some open mics. Unfortunately, I was inept at inserting the Fishman pick-up to make it electro-acoustic. Thankfully the good folks at The Steamie let me borrow their guitar last Friday. However, I'm heading to The Jinglin' Geordie tonight to try out their open mic and wanted to have another go at affixing the pick-up
You see, the pick-up is a rectangular bar with small clamps at either end each held by a screw. With the screw holding both mini clamps together, there is no space inside the guitar hole's perimeter to affix the entire pick-up. So, you're forced to remove the bottom part of each clamp, place the pick up on the sound hole, THEN somehow retrieve the bottom part of each clamp and, from within the guitar hole, re-sure it to the bottom of the screw. No mean feat.
Cue: brother to the rescue.
He had a neat idea he'd used often in the garage, namely to wrap Sellotape around his finger, place each clamp firmly onto it, then place his finger in the guitar and try to join together each clamp.
Fiddly at first, Curt was finally successful. We then placed Gaffa tape firmly onto the lead, and Bob's your uncle.
All ready to try out my guitar!
