Force 6
Today was Palermo, only a short stay in port, we had to be back on board for 1pm. We did the Capuchin Catacombes, it is the place with the 800 mummified bodies in, one dating back to 1599. It was quite fascinating walking round the place, and to note how tiny the people were back then. They even had a section dedicated to children.
Back on board ship we were warned that we would be sailing through a Force 6 gale, it was a bit rocky, our ship is quite old and doesn't benefit from stabilisers like the modern ships, so it was a bit rock and roll.
Roy and I had been invited for drinks with the Captain, so at 5pm I phoned reception to ask if the cocktail invitation was still taking place, and the answer was Yes, so we got showered and dressed, me in my 3 inch high heels, and I tottered down to the cocktail party. Only 50 of the 120 invited guests appeared, couple of glasses of cava and some canapes, the Captain gave a quick welcome speech then disappeared.
We then decided to go up for dinner, the ship was still 'rock and roll' , normally I am not good when the seas are rough, but I have been wearing a magnetic bracelet for a couple of years, and this time I was fine, so whether it was psychological or not I don't care, I wasn't sea sick.
