Monaco

Wow, what a place to spend New Year's Eve (day)! We exited the train station on the Monte Carlo side and worked our way down the hill to the harbour. My first impressions were that it was quite ugly as the buildings seem so jam-packed in and quite dated. The boats were hugely impressive in the harbour and Dex was insisting that we went on one so we settled for the bateau bus (I don't think he was too impressed with our choice of boat!) which took us across the water to Monaco. We really just followed our noses and ended up waling up the hill to more amazing views and then we stumbled across the old town which was immaculate (as you'd expect, I guess in Monaco) and watched the guard parading backwards and forwards in front of the Palace.
Then we headed back down to the harbour as we could see a lot of activity. Honestly it was like walking through a Christmas themed Disney World market (but without the disney characters) which was so much fun. The kids were allowed to choose one ride to go on and they both chose the giant inflatable balls which they move around in like hamsters. It was the first time Dexter has done this and it was so funny watching him as he was rubbish and kept falling down all the time!

We spent the evening in our apartment with the kids having something to eat, playing games and dancing. Olivia was determined to stay up until midnight but succumbed to her bed at 10pm but I managed to battle it out (just) and we managed to see some fireworks from our balcony.
