A Walk Through Deb's Life

It Was a Very Good Year

After my early morning chiropractor appointment I drove over to a local shopping center to pick up a few things. I saw this beauty in the emptiness of the outlying parking lot spaces. Her owner was sitting inside looking at her reflection in the rear view mirror, applying lipstick (I'm pretty sure it was red). It was a sight to behold.

Not knowing whether the driver was just parking or ready to start her up and head out, I approached the car and pointing to my camera, mouthed the word "okay?" The driver nodded with a smile. I only wish she would have continued applying the lipstick, because that would have made it even more special.

I approached the driver's side once more and she rolled down the window.

"'55?" I asked.

"57." She said, smiling.

"Automatic?"

"Yes. And air conditioning too."

"She's beautiful."

"I hit a deer in our other car so have to drive this one."

"Wow. No wonder you parked way out here with nothing else around. Can I take another picture?"

"Sure, my husband will be pleased when I tell him."

It was a silly conversation for two 50-something women to have...it was a very good year though.
