Discarded and Forgotten

Posters for forgotton shows,
torn and bleached 'til white as snow,
still clinging on to metal and wood,
long after doing any good.

More rubbish lies in bags ripped open,
sitting as a potent token,
of all the things we turn to waste,
which go unnoticed in our haste.

Grafitti begs to be paid heed,
reminding of a primal need,
to mark the boundaries of our lands,
to form tribes, or gangs, or clans.

These symbols each have their own story,
but sit against the stone built glory,
of the back ways of a capital city,
with aspects fairy-tale and gritty.
