Mynah
A locally abundant Asian introduction, the mynah is a "cheeky brown bird with a jaunty walk". The mynah feeds mainly on the ground, and often at roadsides. They hop off the road almost casually as a car approaches, and then return to whatever they were doing on the road itself. It is very uncommon to see one as the victim of a collision with a vehicle.
Their casualness on the road led to a brief cartoon series about mynahs and the big wheel. Forty or so years ago.
Thirteenth bird species photographed this year; third I've blipped.
Lots more work in the garden today. Scratched forearms to show for dealing with bougainvillaea and bromeliads. Tired muscles from digging. Satisfaction at making a big difference.
