This is NOT a village pond

Our village doesn't have a pond, but we do have a stream. Well normally it is a stream but today a raging torrent which spilled over into the road, giving a pretty quality but making it difficult to go anywhere. I left work early, people in outlying villages were encouraged to go in day -light, and took 24 miles to get home instead of the normal 5. Many routes closed. I turned into the road before ours and was alarmed at how much water was around, the last bit was hairy to say the least, but such a relief to park in the drive.
We had a walk around the village to see the water and chat to people, blipping as I went and then got home to find a Mercedes driver in an automatic coupe being towed from outside the cottage by a tractor, the wheels juddering as it moved. Why did he think he could get through?
