Crawley Rooftops from County Mall Car Park

As Mum hadn't been to the big shops since before Christmas and much is under cover, we went to Crawley today. It's not all about shopping though as there is usually something else to look at where ever we go and also there is people watching - the things you see and hear! We had a rest in Debenhams cafe and overheard two elderly ladies talking about false teeth that amused me. One revealed that they wear out very quickly and had to go to have them checked every 3 months. The other said she had got through three sets of false teeth in 40 years!!

Back to the picture! This shows the Catholic Friary Church of St Francis & St Anthony in the centre of Crawley. It is a Grade II listed building built in the late 1950's by the architect H S Goodhart-Rendel. The church was further altered in 1988 and in 2009. There has been a church here since the 1860's and this church replaces the earlier one built as the original was much smaller. The churchyard contains many older graves dating from the earlier church. The tower of the Anglican Parish Church of St John The Baptist can be seen on the far right.
