Saipem 7000

Being taken over by other vessels is nothing special when you work on tugs. But it is a different thing if that vessel is a cranebarge without any tugs at all. That is what happened this morning. We were taken over by the Italian cranebarge Saipem 7000, a barge almost identical as our Thialf. There are some significant differences however, the most visible one is probably the fact that her bow is on the other side as the bow of the Thialf. She's sailing backwards in our point of view. And of course the other way around too. On this picture you can see her silhouette on the horizon behind the Husky. Her destination is Las Palmas, and it is believed that her final destination will be Brazil as well. Quite a coincidence because het port of departure is the same as ours too.
