Dragon!

Saw a beautiful rainbow as we left Manapouri this morning, but this dragon-shaped cloud pipped it to the post as my photo of the day. Popped back into Te Anau to get a few bits from the supermarket, then drove on to Queenstown to find out whether the Routeburn track was a goer. Unfortunately, after a tasty lunch at Devil Burger, we learned that the track was still closed in the middle (and even the helicopter option sounding a bit iffy now), so we walked over to the DoC office and got a refund on the hut accommodation.

Drove on to Arrowtown, a few km up the road, and booked in to a lovely suite in Poplar Lodge. (Bit of a step up from when I stayed in a mixed dorm room there on my last visit to NZ.)

Went for a short (4km) walk along the Arrow river, came back and showered and then went out for a delicious dinner at Pesto. Had a few drinks back in the room afterwards and got rather merry, chatting about our fabulous honeymoon and loved-upness :)
