The porch cacti family
#4 in a series of 5 early morning Blips.
A response to weebone
Dunno how they ever got there - they just seem to live. I didn't plant/buy them. And neither did K. I suspect Gran D puts them there, waters and feeds them.
Ended up spending the morning working at home. Worked on some tech stuff for boarding passes for an airline in the US. Got a webex with them tomorrow (I think they may start trialling one of my systems).
Late afternoon hop over to Edinburgh for a conference thing. Tonight was the big annual dinner for the great and good of the Scottish IT Industry. Lots of backslapping telling each outher how great we are.
But menu was:
Pastrami of Scottish Salmon with Ceviche of Cucumber, Roquette and Endive Salad. (Yuck - didn't touch)
Crispy Duck Confit with garlic Creamed Potatoes, Braised Red Cabbage, tempura Vegetables and Oriental Jus. (alright - picked at it)
Trio of Scottish Desserts (at last something edible)
I had to sit at the judges table. We had been judging "Young Software Engineer of the Year". There's some pretty cool uni projects out there.
(I think of myself as more a cuddly uncle Theo Paphitis - but probably more a grumpy Duncan Bannatyne).
Got back to the car at midnight - and it wouldn't start - nearly called mozo. Thankfully two guys gave me a push.
Was desparate to stop for a decent big mac on the way home - but didn't, just incase the car didn't start again.
Its back on its lifeline now....
