A Is For Aardvark
I said I would work on a different subject in a different medium this year, so I've decided upon animals in water colour paint. Like a true librarian I am going to work through the alphabet. Any idea what animal B will be? Anyway, I haven't done a water colour painting in years so this first effort was a case of getting used to the medium. It's tricky; a lot more tricky than pastels. Pastels are nice and predictable; I know what I'm going to get when I apply the pastel to the paper. Water colour is like a battle, or at least an intense negotiation, between the painter and the paint. It's almost as if the paint has a will of its own. I like that, however. I'm going to enjoy learning to understand the temperament of this willful medium.
