I remember when I was about 11 having to read W H Auden's Christmas Oratorio at the end of a school Christmas Carol Concert at Herbert Strutt in Belper, Derbyshire and thinking it was the saddest thing ever. It's still poignant putting away treasures for another year, but the house has been spruced up with Christmas and Birthday pressies of new candles and lanterns and looks positively spring-like with beautiful white tulips from Chiswick yesterday. There's already so much planned for this year and so much to look forward to, I'm ready to dive back in again with a passion!
