Call this progress?
In the 1950s and 60s
when TV was black-and-white,
we'd lose horizontal-hold, but --
slap the set -- and all came right.
Reception improved over decades
until signals were stable
and anyone with a set
who wanted to watch was able.
Now digital TV is forced upon us,
and it's worse than fifty years ago.
We'll turn up the signal, they promised.
I think they lied. And -- you know --
banging the side of the set
is no longer a choice;
it has no side to speak of,
and licence payers have no voice
or TV.
The stormy weather's
most likely to blame.
But in the heat of summer,
it's exactly the same.
(I wouldn't mind, but it's Sherlock tonight!)
Hope I can post this before we lose the internet signal again!)
