1987
I love living in the Texas and Pacific Lofts. We live next to a main east-west rail line. The noise of the trains does not impact me. Wondering what is in the cars at times concerns me. This morning when I left for church, I noticed two rail cars with a 1987 placard displayed. Did a little research and found that these cars most probably held 95% ethanol and 5% gasoline. This combination makes the corn alcohol undrinkable. An article written by a fire chief cautioned that this mixture is very dangerous because it is explosive. It is also dangerous for the firefighters because the gasoline does not mix with water as the ethanol does. Gasoline burning is obvious. Burning ethanol is invisible. Fire fighters cannot see the flames. I won't let it bother me too much.
