NARROW GAUGE

The photo shows the embankment where the old narrow gauge railway ran up to Lofthouse Via Ramsgill just after it left Wath Station, Built in 1907 to service the construction of the upper Nidd Reservoir, it also served the remote villages in Upper Nidderdale carry passengers up until 1929, the line itself closed down in 1939. There are a lot of interesting 'bits' to be found when walking around the area including the Station House at Pateley Bridge (looked around it last time it was up for sale, nose conversion and the original Station Clock is still in place with the winder mechanism elongated so as to pass through the thick Yorkshire stone of the stations construction into the Fat Controllers kitchen)
