A surprising turnaround...

... for my husband!

I love reading for pleasure but my husband was completely disinterested in it.

Year after year, I tried to encourage him to explore the world of book, buying him books about football and travel - things he is interested in. But none of this worked - he just didn't get it! His argument was that he reads reports all day at work and wanted to relax at home.

A while ago, the Sunday Times published a list of 100 books to love, and my husband clipped out the pages and folded them away quietly. Since Christmas he hasn't stopped reading. Jeannette Winterson's, Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit, Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, and at the moment he's reading The Little Prince by Antoine d Saint-Exupery.

... And, he finally gets it! The joy of reading for pleasure!

I think he was a little surprised that we already had some of the books on his list - so here is a collection of them. He's even happy to read Jane Austen's Persuasion once I've found it in the loft ... because it's on his list.

I'm so pleased for him. :-)
