Snack tray

Introducing the snack tray - a big hit!

It's quite simply a muffin tray filled with nibbles the kids can munch on through the day, to save me trying to decide what they might fancy and keep going back and forth to the kitchen :) Quite the novelty, it seems to have worked though! They like having a selection of things to chose from and sat ever so nicely sharing this morning. This could become a regular fixture.

Had a rough night with Dylan. He was up maybe 4 times in the early hours saying he needed me, wanting me to hold his hand/stroke his head to sleep. I suspect it was the prospect of school starting again today. He loves it when he gets there but always struggles with a break from 'routine' (strange as we have never been big on routines) and gets quite nervous on day 1. I sympathise.. can't say the thought of returning to work tomorrow is filling me with joy either!

We all had a good giggle on the way home from school. There's an underpass which goes under the railway line and lots of the parents and kids use it on the walk home as there always seems to be a train coming at hometime. today it was rather flooded (isn't everywhere?). Almost knee deep on an adult. Most opted to just wait for the barriers to go up, but every now and then someone would brave the underpass. One dad decided he was going for it and would carry each child across on his shoulders. He took the toddler first....turned to go back for the maybe 6 year old only to discover his little boy splashing waist deep in the water he'd just tried to save him from! Then big sister joined in. Had to laugh. That's totally what my two would do :)

Lily has missed her nap today. Not for want of trying, just every time she's drifted off there's been a knock at the door or we've had to go out. Poor mite. Early night all round, methinks.
