Strike, Dublin Docks
Driving past the roundabout on my way to the East link, I noticed some guys outside one of the container-dock gates holding those big golfing umbrellas (it was a rainy grey day). I pulled up and spoke to a few of the workers, who were on strike. They were fine about being photographed, very open and friendly, and probably desperate for anyone who might care to hear their story. This won't do them justice I'm afraid, I didn't have a pen handy and the details escaped me. But I felt for them; a hundred days (I think they said), with little encouraging news so far; the management are apparently stonewalling and have already hired replacement workers, to these mens' understandable resentment and frustration.
