BRAVE SOUL

This little downy woodpecker braved the cold winds today for a quick stop at the suet feeder. Very few birds were out at all today, and there were absolutely no squirrels to be seen – even with the peanuts set out for them. Any bare skin can become frostbitten in 5 min. so imagine how difficult it would be for a bird to fly in these bitter winds!

I have a nasty head cold (maybe respiratory flu, who knows?) so this ‘Polar Vortex’ only adds to the misery. At least staying home isn’t a problem since everything is closed due to the weather anyway. The blips of sunny days elsewhere around the world are a real day brightener!
