Why do I get myself into these things?

And for my next act: I offered my services as a bass player for the Portland Lesbian Choir concert, thinking it would just be one or two songs, but it turns out to be eight or nine. And it's in 2 1/2 weeks. I have to work up all the bass parts and practice, practice, practice. Bass playing is not my strongest skill, but I love it, it's fun and I get to act cool with my purple bass. Can one be cool whilst being a fool?
