A winter's surprise
"Iris in a country garden...
Politely said... "I beg your pardon...
But I'm from sunny France you see...
And my real name is Fleur-de-Lis"
Met up with my dear friend Francesca, who had come down from Loch Lomond way
for a few days holiday.. with winter rains tearing thru' the Downs today, i headed for
the county town of Lewes.. after a good soaking and grumbling about the sad lack of
flowers & the biting wind.. she said " come and see what ive found". After a short
walk heading out of town & growing by a roadside wall were these Iris...in full bloom.
a cheery & unexpected sight indeed!
