the Spire,Dublin City..built in 2003 of stainless steel and reaching 121 metres into the sky, in the spot where Nelson's Pillar stood until 1966 when it was blown up. It was a huge bone of contention among Dubliners, many of whom hated it with a passion. It soon was being called " the Stiletto in the Ghetto " or " the Rod to God ".
