Head Collars
I've been making a quick trip home at lunchtime for the last couple of months to bring the horses in - less time in the field means less grass gets eaten, and the fields get less torn up (and its also a lot easier to bring them in in daylight rather than the dark…).
It takes two trips - one to get Ginger from his field, then a second to get Teaser and Holly from the far corner of this one. Open the stable doors, walk up the drive, open the field gate, switch off the electric fence, go through the electric fence gate, hope the horses come nicely and don't run away from me, get their head collars on, lead them out through the electric fence gate, out through the field gate, walk down the drive to the stables, pop them in the stables, close the doors and DON'T FORGET to put in the wedge of wood to prevent any more Houdini acts.
Yesterday I got drenched, and it was practically dark at 1.30. Today was beautiful by contrast - still some clouds in the sky, but also big patches of sunlight and a strong drying wind was making the ground feel drier than yesterday. I was tempted to stay and not go back to work.
So looking forward to more sunshine tomorrow.
