Courage on our coasts
I had the honour and privilege tonight of being able to attend the official launch of the Courage on our coasts exhibition. It is photographic works by Nigel Millard who, in addition to being a professional photographer, is a volunteer lifeboat crew member in Torbay.
His project involved going round the country taking photos at various lifeboat stations and has culminated in this exhibition which has toured the country and is on display in Castle Street here in Edinburgh until the 24th of this month after which it will go to London where it will be on display on the South Bank opposite the Tower Lifeboat Station for a further six weeks before finishing up.
If you're in Edinburgh at the moment or London when it's there it's certainly worth going for a look. The exhibition is free but there is a small RNLI shop where you can buy RNLI merchandise from friendly staff including the excellent book or calendar which accompany the exhibition.
The only slightly sad part to it was that Nigel Millard was supposed to introduce teh exhibition but he took ill last night and was admitted to an Edinburgh hospital so was unable to make the talk at the Living Room. It was still great to get the opportunity to head along.
