Beauty in a Shelter
One of only the two people I know on Blip so far, Barney of Bexhill, recently commented on his own photo something along the lines of 'if you're ever stuck for a photo for a day, head to the seafront'. I chuckled at his lack of creativity in finding anything in his day worth snapping....until 9.30 tonight when I found myself sans photo and heading to the seafront.
I didn't have to travel far: The seafront is right around the corner from my new home and there are plenty of potential shots. This one, however, stood out.
Tonight in Bexhill is 5 or 6 degrees above freezing, the wind is howling, the rain lashing sideways and at you regardless of which way one faces but, in the midst of all that surrounds it, this shelter. The lights radiating from it penetrate the deep black sky over the Channel, and the yellowy glow of the lights pulling out the richness and warmth of the red: It just looked cosy.
I won't chuckle when Barney next heads to the seafront, I shall be close behind looking for my next subject. And having found beauty in a shelter, I can't begin to think what may come next.
