Having a bad hair day

This is one of my favorite ducks, the Red-breasted Merganser. Although he looks like he just had a bad haircut, he has actually just surfaced from a dive into the freezing cold water. I like how you can see the water droplets beaded on his back.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome given to my 3 amigos yesterday. Many people have kindly asked about Bogan's health. He was diagnosed with cancer in February of last year and we were told in October that the cancer had spread to his spleen and that our time with him would be short, so I am thankful that he has beaten the odds so far. Miracles do happen, and we are grateful for every day we have with him.
