Pounamu

Izzy and myself popped into the Bead Shop. As it was so grey and dull outside I was immediately drawn to the trays of beautiful beads from around the world. The colours were bright, happy and shinning like sunshine. I took several photos of them, however loved this particular one of Pounamu and mask.

Pounamu or Nephrite Jade comes from the South Island of New Zealand. It has a long tradition of being used and revered starting with the first Maori inhabitants who fulfilled an ancient prophecy by travelling over the seas to find the 'God stone."

This beautiful stone brings the wearer inner strength, fortitude, protection, persistence and completion. It helps us stand our ground.
