Lions of Portobello

Porty was bracing this morning but that didn't seem to put off the yummy mummies trailing Hugo and Verity for a sub zero sandcastle session.

What's wrong with these people?
Haven't they heard of Loose Women or Cash in the Attic?

Maybe Jeremy Kyle could put them right..."Next up Cassandra who'd rather go jogging than eat chips!"

This pillar is one of three, rescued from the garden of Arglye House, off Portobello High Street. The pillars are made of press-moulded blocks of Coade stone, a process invented by Eleanor Coade (1773 - 1821). The designs on the smaller pillars are identical to those on the chimneys of Dalmeny House, South Queensferry. In 2006, the pillars were erected in the new Community Garden with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Some Blippers may remember it like this
