Charles Smithson inscription.

Charles Smithson was the Solicitor friend of Charles Dickens. Dickens visited Smithson and his wife at Easthorpe Hall near Castle Howard and later at Abbey House, Old Malton. Smithson died aged just 39 in 1844 and Dickens attended the funeral at St Mary's church. This is a photograph of the gravestone as it appears today.
