Scarfies

A calm, sunny morning. Couldn't resist stopping to take a pic of the scarfies* basking in the sunshine at Scapa Flow. When I pulled over there were a with their wings spread out to dry (or whatever it is they do it for) but they obviously felt shy and refused to perform for the camera. Didn't matter though, they still looked great.


I'm off to Tai Chi this evening... but unlike this guy I wont be in the company of cormorants. Which is a good job really as I reckon that the cormorant is looking at him as if he's a total idiot.


Scarfie - Orcadian word for cormorant or shag. Same word saves any of the is it one or other conversations.
