Flooded Meadow!
Today was our first day "back at work"! Well, actually back to work for the Wonderspouse, and back to the usual daily routine for me.
The 6 a.m. alarm felt jolly early, but in some ways it was good to get back to a bit of activity after all the sitting around over the holidays. The Wonderspouse got on his bus as usual, I came home, practised the piano, then set off into town.
It was a slow journey - at least an hour sitting in traffic. The Wonderspouse had a similar experience on the bus. Since two of the major routes into Oxford are currently flooded, the traffic is even worse than usual. I finally parked outside Scharwenka's house, then walked into town and went to see the Meadow, which is currently more of a lake! I chatted to a friendly woman with a lively dog, watched a confused jogger wondering where to jog since his usual route was under water, and was amused by a lady duck chasing after two drakes! All of the pictures I took can be seen here!
Then I headed to a comfy sofa in a coffee shop to drink coffee and read a chapter of maths, walked back to Scharwenka's for lunch, sampled his extremely fine 1948 Port, and caught up on all the news from the Festive Season!
The Wonderspouse and I then went to do a quick top-up shop before the journey home - thankfully much faster than the journey out!
Feet a little sore after around 5 miles walking, but it's good to be back to doing stuff again! :-)
