...well I never......

Look what I found....a Christmas cake....a whole Christmas cake...untouched....put in a cupboard before Christmas and totally forgotten about!

It reminds me of a Christmas many years ago......we often had relatives round for Christmas dinner...my Uncle, my Gran, my aunt.......whoever. My Mum used to put on a huge feast...starters.....a leg of pork...with crackling, a turkey all the trimmings....Yorkshire pudding...not the small ones the big dinner plate size ones...served before the main course with gravy.....Dad was big on the Yorkshire saying..."Them as eats the most pudding gets the most meat"...of course the more pudding you ate the less room you had for meat....a huge Christmas pudding with white sauce...beer, wine ...the works.

One year we all sat down....about 8 of us round the table......prawn cocktail....Yorkshire pudding.......Dad carved the meat....the veggies...spuds, roasties, carrots, turnip, mushy peas, sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, stuffing balls...we ploughed through......Mum got up to fetch the pudding from the kitchen....Dad followed with the brandy....they came back with the flaming pudding and a huge jug of custard and another of white sauce...and Mum let out a yelp!

There, sitting on the sideboard, completely untouched was the turkey!

We'd all eaten so much we hadn't noticed that the turkey hadn't been carved! We had dozens of turkey sandwiches for tea that day!

Busy day at work....but my team all piled in to help.....and it went pretty painlessly.
Now just a full day...including an observation tomorrow.....and a twilight session until 6.15...tomorrow and that's almost the first week done.

Das vidanya moy padruga.
