Boat Show In London
Today we went up to London for the boat show at the Excel centre.
This old tug, moored on the Thames outside, was open to visitors. In its day it was the strongest single engined tug and would tow tankers. John took ages listening to an engineer talk about the engines, I think he forgot I was sitting in the wind....
He told me it had a five cylinder two stroke Diesel engine that took compressed air to get it started
inside the arena, some of the larger boats looked very impressive from the ground level. I kept wondering how they got them all in there. These boats must guzzle up fuel, but I suppose would spend a lot of time anchored at exotic locations or hosting corporate entertainments rather than travelling around.
Anyway, our main purchase of the day was a new life jacket for Poppy! It's high vis with a handle on the back for plucking her out of the water should the worst happen.
I was very tired by the time we picked Poppy up from Rene and Norms (yesterday's blip)....she'd had a good day too.
