My Dad

Cheating a bit today with a picture of a picture, but this is my late Dad circa 1934, when he played football for Cliftonville in the Northern Ireland Football League.
He looks so fresh-faced and youthful - as I never really saw him in real life - and I love this old sepia toned picture of him.
Dad would have been 100 years old next year had he lived, but died when a replacement aortic pig's valve failed, as they usually do after about 7 years, which is why I opted for a mechanical aortic valve when my time for one came. Mine is ceramic and titanium; made in Switzerland and fitted in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney NSW 11 years ago. I tick, audibly, like a little clock!
