Little toes

My Little Boy 1 day old already. Still can't quite get my head around the fact I gave birth yesterday!!

It was such an amazing experience. So unlike my previous birth with P. Only 3 hours long, in the birth pool and with no interventions or help, other than gas and air and Mr J's arm (that I duly stuck my fingernails into!) I was conscious this time not to use too much gas and so I was 100% aware of what was happening and I felt that I was in total control. I didn't need the midwife telling me he was getting close, I could feel him every step of the way and had total faith that my body knew what to do. When he was born I reached down into the water to get him and held him in my arms. I was the fist one to hold him, to touch him, to kiss him. With the cord still attached we relaxed and attempted our first feed.

I never thought something so painful and scary could also be so magical and inspiring. I thank my baby boy and the staff at Peterborough hospital for allowing me the birth I experience I dreamed of.
