Nerdiness

This is what I have been keeping an eye on all day...break time, lunchtime and since I got home from a late session at school (less said about that the better).

An X class solar flare occurred on Monday...that's a big flare. It sent a CME (coronal mass ejection) hurtling towards Earth. About 15 minutes ago, the CME made contact with the Earth's magnetic field. Potentially, depending upon how strong the CME turns out to be, the Aurora Borealis could become visible in Northern England. I am monitoring a number of sites to make a decision about whether it is worth staying up late!
