The Moon Tonight

A crop from a handheld shot while waiting to see if the aurora was going to show. The moon is easy to photograph, but it is too bright for automatic settings - if your camera has manual settings then those that I have used are good for a half-moon like this, giving good detail along the delimiter. You can hand-hold your camera, but with a big zoom you really need an image stabiliser or a tripod at these sort of shutter speeds.
